Our History

We were born on December 12, 2007 with the purpose of restoring the traditional pre-Hispanic agriculture (Chinampería), through marketing the products of the chinamperos (farmers) in the city.

By using the chinampas (Lands), the only agricultural method in the world with more than two thousand years old, our farmers respect the ecology, conserve and care Xochimilco and use the mud that is at the bottom of the canal, contributing to the canals “DON´T” dry.

This way of cultivating our vegetables and other natural products is considered handmade, since practically all the sowing and cultivation process is carried out with the knowledge inherited by their ancestors.

In these 11 years we have worked with several families of chinampa farmers, contributing to the restoration and rescue of the chinampas, production of agro-ecological food, working with the best restaurants in Mexico City who now have chinampas to produce their own food, working in conjunction with the chinamperas families.

Throughout our passionate adventure, there have been people who have joined the “De de la chinampa” project and those who have been born with new projects, who are now working with other chinamperas families, helping and promoting the ecological restoration of the system of chinampas, their channels and the people involved.
